Project Details:
Jatec Electric Ltd located at 7224 – 50th Street in Edmonton wanted to dress up the exterior of their block building to enhance the nature of their business profile. The original block building was starting to show its age and they enlisted the help of Jaret Jahner of Scorpio Masonry (Northern) Inc. to create a new look for their building.
Jaret discussed with the owner what they were trying to achieve and developed a plan utilizing 2 colors of IXL brick units and custom Continental Cast Stone profiles. The Continental Cast Stone materials framed the doors and windows of the building and feature a “step-up” detail on the columns to tie the building envelope together. The large columns pieces and one piece sills and headers encapsulate the building façade creating clean lines with a strong stance. The profiles of the Continental Cast Stone units create a visual column on the front of the building to draw the eye upwards.
Along with the face lift, the building was provided with spray insulation in the wall cavity prior to the brick and stone work adding to the buildings insulation properties. The pictures show what can be accomplished using locally sourced masonry materials, a creative mind and standard masonry practices together with some innovative ideas for the masonry application. This once proud building has been upgraded to today’s standards and creates a visual presence on this arterial road in Edmonton. The owners are very pleased with the end results that were custom created for their building.
Creative ideas together with masonry products provide long lasting durable results. Masonry lasts a lifetime!
